Family, friends and neighbors came together for the first annual End of the Road Jam and B.B.Q. cook-off in September 1999 to promote music and cooking. Our purpose is to provide the opportunity for musicians and cook teams to participate and showcase their talents. We have grown from a single band and hand full of cookers to four bands dozens of musicians and many cookers. Being open to the public from the beginning we have strived for a family atmosphere providing games, moonwalks, and contest for both children and adults. We have provided food, camping and entertainment for seven years starting with only a few patrons to hundreds last year. In the past we have provided donations to several charitable organizations. We honor our veterans and remember those who came before us before the Saturday evening meal.
In 2007 we have organized a corporation Plantersville End of the Road Productions, LLC. to bring together a group of people with diversified backgrounds with the common goal to provide the opportunity for musicians and cook teams to come together for their personal enjoyment and to entertain the public.
At present we are working to clear areas to accomodate a larger crowd, more parking and begin construction of a pavilion with a stage..
A camp ground to accomodate tents, campers, and RVs. Construct a large pavilion with restrooms a covered stage and improved parking. Continuing with honoring our nations veterans - the construction of a warrior wall that will provide the opportunity for everyone to place a plaque (for a nominal fee) of their veteran friend or family member on the honoring wall. Listing the veterans name, unit, and service time.
We are in the planning stages of becoming an annual sanctioned bar-b-que cook off event where as the winning participants can qualify for national cook off competition.
Although we have made charitable contributions in the past it is our goal to offer annual scholarships to local high school students who have an interest in music, culinary arts or history.
With the participation of the 7th Texas Field Battery (Moseley's Co. Light Artillery) we are planning the construction of an authentic reproduction Frontier Fort and Settlement Village. With this being the foundation that will provide the opportunity for other annual events such as re-enactments and living history shows, this will also be an added attraction to our annual jam.
